Celebrate the ancient tradition of sardine fishing in the River Thames in Surbiton.
Since sardines were once again introduced to the river in 2005, local people have celebrated the capture of this magical food with a festival. Bands and entertainment all day, delicious fresh food and drink stalls keep everyone refreshed, arts and crafts are available to peruse, and a procession takes us to the river to watch the haul of the sardines, which are of course taken to the famous Sardine BBQ.
